QUTANG GORGE
Qutang Gorge, the first of the Three Gorges is also the shortest (8km) and the narrowest (only 100m wide). Although the shortest of the Three Gorges, Qutang still has impressive scenery such as the rock formations Phoenix Drinking Spring, Rhinoceros Gazing and Upside-Down Monk.
WU GORGE Known as the Gorge of Witches, the 40km Wu Gorge is considered to be the most enchanting of the Three Gorges. Although sections have been partly submerged, the impressive GoddessPeak still pokes out gazing at the passing cruise ships. GoddessPeak is named after a goddess who waited for her lover by the gorge and turned into stone.
XILING GORGE At 80kmfs long, Xiling Gorge is the longest of the Three Gorges. A 42km section of Xiling Gorge, which included the Art-Of-War, Yellow Cow, and Yellow Cat Gorges were once known as a ship graveyard. Now harmless after extensive blasting, and the first stage of flooding, the Gorge is a leisurely cruise with b eautiful scenery.
LITTLE THREE GORGES
In between Qutang and Wu Gorges, you will change to smaller boats to visit what many people believe to be the highlight of a trip along the Yangtze- The Little Three Gorges. The smaller boats let you have a more intimate experience with the river, and you will feel much closer to the karst mountains, and the villages that you will float by.
