ChengDu - JiuZhaiGou or ChuanZhuSi
Depart from ChengDu in the morning and drive to JiuZhaiGou. You will pass through DuJiangYan, WenChuan, MaoXian, SongPan, and enjoy the scenery of North Sichuan, home to the Qiang minority, still seen in their traditional costume. You will stop and have lunch at MaoXian. Alternatively, they may take the east route, through MianYang, JiangYou and PingWu. The distance is 480km and takes approximately 12hours. |

JiuZhaiGou one day sight-seeing
After breakfast at the hotel , go to the Jiu Zhai Gou Park around 9:00. The guide will tell you when and where to meet the evening before.You will be able to go sightsee ing in the park by yourself.Known as the "fairy land" of Sichuan, you can see many famous sights, including: Long Lake, Colorful Lake, Pearl Beach, Mirror Lake, Five Flower Lake, Panda Lake, Nuorilang Waterfall and Flame lake. In the afternoon, you will meet your group at the entrance to the park and take the tour bus back to the hotel. You can join an optional Tibetan Dance Party and /or Roasted Sheep Bonfire Party (the guide should ask if you wish to join this party on the first day). |

HuangLong sight-seeing and to SongPan
After breakfast the guide will take you to souvenir shops; it will take most of the morning to get to HuangLong.
Summer/Autumn:
After lunch, go to see the karst landforms and calcified waterfalls of HuangLong. In the evening, you will arrive in Songpan, say good-bye to the group and meet your horse trekking guide. He/she will take you to your guesthouse. Have dinner by yourself.
Winter/March:
After lunch you will say good-bye to the group as they leave for MuNiGou Valley. You will meet your horse trekking guide in SongPan, and he/she will take you to your guesthouse and help you to check in. You can explore the town and have dinner by yourself |

Horse Trekking
After breakfast, you will ride for 4-5hours to ErDaoHai Lake ( 36 km from Songpan town) . The region is famous for having many lakes; you will see Toudao Lake, Swan Lake and Feicui Lake, and many others. The guide will choose good places to break for lunch and dinner. You will camp overnight near ErDaoHai Lake. |

| 1. About the Charge |

(1) Meals (according to the itinerary); simple but natural meals during the horse trekking
(2) Accommodation
a. With the tour group---depending on the standard you specify; price varies accordingly
b. In SongPan-- Accommodation (family run guesthouse). Normally, you wil be in a twin room; if you don't want to share the room, you will have to pay for both beds. During peak season, you may be in a dorm.
(3) Transport
a. ChengDu|JiuZhaiGou|SongPan Tourist bus
b. The public long distance bus ticket from Songpan to Chengdu
(4) Chinese speaking guides. There will be two guides; one when you are travelling with the group, another for the horse trek who will be able to speak a little English.
(5) Entrance fees: JiuZhaiGou, HuangLong (only during spring and summer), ErDaoHai Lake and bus inside of JiuZhiGou Park. If you have paid for HuangLong, but the weather suddenly changes and you do not go, the guide will refund you the entrance fee.
(6) Insurance; all travellers are supposed to pay the Traveller's Response Insurance, 10 for Chinese travellers and 30 for the foreign travellers. This insurance does not cover you after you leave the group in SongPan.

3. About the Itinerary
|
(1) This tour is separated into two parts. First, you join a tour group visit JiuZhaiGou Valley and HuangLong(they are on a 4 day bus tour; then, when you leave the tour goup, you will meet another guide in SongPan who will take you horse trekking.
(2) In winter season (normally from November to April), the road to HuangLong will freeze over and the big sight-seeing bus will not be able to pass. During this time, you will leave the tour group earlier and arrive earlier in SongPan. We are not able to tell you exactly when the tours will stop going to HuangLong, since it is based on the local weather conditions.
(3) The Tibetan Dance Party and/or Roasted Sheep Bonfire Party will be available in JiuZhaiGou but we cannot tell you if they will be on the first or second day because this is decided by the tour guide based on the preference of the whole group.
(4) This tour follows quite a tight schedule, with a long time spent on buses and in souvenir shops. You will go to bed late at night and have to wake up early in the morning.
(5) The weather can affect the intinerary; land slides occur during rainy season (July- Aug). |
4. About accomodation
|
(1) During high season (summer and autumn), hotels near the entrance of JiuZhaiGou are quite busy and hard to book. You may stay in ChuangZhuSi or JiuZhaiGou town instead. From these places, it takes around 2 hours to drive to JiuZhaiGou Park, so you will have less time in the park.
(2) If you stay in ChuangZhuSi, there are only 3 star hotels. Even if you have paid for a 4 star hotel tour, you will have to stay in a 3 star hotel.
(3) In small towns like Songpan, the accommodation conditions and facilties are very simple.
(4) The dorms in the guesthouse in Songpan do not have private toilets. They do have 24 hour hot water (heated by electricity), and electric blankets during the cold season.
(5) The guesthouse in SongPan will arrange a room based on what is available when you check in; they do not accept bookings for specific rooms. Please let us know in advance if you have any particular requests, and we will try our best to arrange these for you. |
| 5. Please be aware of the following: |
(1) Horse trekking in the forests and mountainous area can be physically demanding.
(2) Follow the guidesf instructions for your safety during the trek, especially when riding up or down steep slopes. Donft scare the horses. Donft chase or over-exert the horses during the trip.
(3) If some accident occurs because you didnft follow the guidefs instructions, you will be held responsible for the accident.
(4) Altitude sickness is often experienced on this trip. You should be in good physical condition before you leave, and try to avoid strenuous activities. Tell the guide immediately if you are experiencing any discomfort related to the altitude (headache, nausea, etc.)
(5) DO NOT USE FLASH when you take photos of the horses.
(6) Treat the horses well, as they are very important to the local people.
(7) Pay attention to the local enviroment. Collect all your rubbish and bring it back with you.
(8) Respect the local customs. You will be among local residents for several days, and they live a different lifestyle than you are used to.
(9) Be careful when using the camping equipment.
(10) There is a big temperature difference between day and night. Make sure you bring enough clothes.
(11) It is a good idea to bring some food of your own, in case you feel hungry when trekking. |
6. How to get back to our hostel from ChaDianZi bus terminal
|
(1) Taxi: It takes about 20-30 min and costs 20-25.
(2) Bus: take bus No.44 (or any other bus) to the North Railway Station and take bus No. 65 / 28 / 34 to the hostel. Please do not forget to take our map! |
7. Cancellation and change policy
|
| If you cancel due to personal reasons, we will deduct the cancellation fee from your deposit and refund the rest. The cancellation fee is based on the actual cost of arrangement. |
(1) If your cancellation reaches us before 11:00am, 4 days before of the beginning of the trip, we wonft charge you any cancellation fee.
(2) If your cancellation reaches us after 11:00am, 4 days before of the beginning of the trip, we will charge you based on the actual cost of arrangement.
(3) If your change application reaches us before 11:00am, 4 days before of the beginning of the trip:
You can change the date of the trip one time at no extra cost.
We will not return your money if you want to cancel the trip after the change.
(4) If your change application reaches us after 11:00am, 4 days before of the beginning of the trip, the fee will depend on how much the changes cost to arrange. It may not be possible to make the changes you request. |
8. Others
|
(1) There will be a car to pick you up and take you to the meeting place for the big tour bus. When all travellers on the tour are there (about 8:00am), they will leave. Please confirm the departure time at the travel desk on the evening before the tour. Usually it is between 6:00am--7:00am.
(2) The tour conditions are subject to change without notice. Please confirm with our travel office staff . |
