We start early in the morning and drive to Rongphu (5000m) via Shegar (4050m); some parts of the road are still under construction. We will cross the Gyamtsola Pass (5,220m), the highest enroute, and from here you can see the Himalaya mountain range on a clear day. You can go trekking or horse riding here (optional). At Rongphu Monastery you will have a splendid view of Mt. Everest. After a short walk, you can take a horse cart for the final half hour to Everest Base camp. Alternatively, there is a short (1.5?2 hours) trek to the Base Camp. It is a much more interesting way to reach the Camp, but you may have difficulties breathing at this altitude. You will spend a short time at the Base Camp so that you may take photos and appreciate the view of Everest before returning to Rongphu.
